Group arrested for meth possession in drug store bust

Three people have been arrested in connection with drug charges related to methamphetamine. The trio was accused of possessing methamphetamine during their arrest in a CVS parking lot in Lexington, South Carolina. Officers said the three ranged in age from 23 to 27 years old.

Authorities report the older man was arrested after he was allegedly found in possession of a plastic straw with remnants of suspected distilled methamphetamine, along with some raw materials used to make meth. Those included Claritin-D and lithium batteries, both components required to concoct the drug.

The man argued that he had been given the straw and batteries by a friend earlier in the day. The same person reportedly gave him a set of brass knuckles that were found on his person. Officers said the man was headed to the rear of the store when he was apprehended at about 2:00 a.m., according to official reports. Police had received phone calls about suspicious individuals at the store who were reportedly attempting to purchase pseudoephedrine, one of the main components in meth.

A search of the defendants' vehicle revealed several small pieces of marijuana, along with an open beer container and several other pieces of suspected meth paraphernalia. Several types of pills were also discovered, along with weapons such as knives and police batons.

The two younger arrestees, both women, were arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. They also face charges of possession of schedule II, III and IV narcotics, according to official reports. An additional man who was with the trio was released after questioning.

The defendants in this case are facing very serious criminal charges. An attorney who specializes in drug cases would be able to advise them of their options, as well as protect their rights.
